Whether you’re
sailing in Iowa, viewing the sunset from helicopter pad on the top of a
hospital in Arizona, gazing at covered bridges in Vermont, or taking a long
walk on the beach in Florida, travel nursing is an excellent way to get paid
while exploring the United States.
Although Highway
Hypodermics: Your Road Map To Travel Nursing was written in 2005 with some
great information about travel nursing, the next edition, Highway
Hypodermics: Travel Nursing 2007, brings expanded knowledge about the field
of travel nursing.
Not only do you
get the basics of traveling, but additional information is provided on the
rewards and drawbacks of travel nursing and making the decision to travel,
expanded knowledge on what travel companies are all about and how to choose
the right one, all about JCAHO certification, which destinations are the
best and how to choose a destination, information on traveling in a
recreational vehicle, home-schooling your child while on the road, and
additional information on licensing requirements, not to mention all you
would ever need to know about travel nursing and your taxes.
Stop dreaming
about travel nursing, and step into reality with Highway Hypodermics:
Travel Nursing 2007.

YES I read the ENTIRE book and I thought that you did a GREAT job on the
ins and outs of being a traveler and I love how you went into a little
detail about how travelers are often given the more difficult assignments
and are treated differently in some locations because everyone thinks we
make sooo much more money than they do! It was a great way to throw much
needed light on a topic that often discourages new travelers. It was
AWESOME...as always!

"I
am a huge fan! Highway Hypodermics is required reading in our
office."
Mary Cheek, Bestaff Arcadia
My first impression was I
liked the more in depth reviews of travel companies, which is helpful to
gaining a knowledge of what the different companies offer. I also believe
there is no perfect travel company, but each nurse can benefit by doing
their homework in Highway Hypodermics to determine which company best fits
them. Like in all of life, it is very hard to have a company that is tops
in pay, service and benefits. Each nurse needs to determine which is most
important to them and find the company that best delivers that need.
I do agree that a good
recruiter needs to know their nurse's strengths, likes and desires. And a
pro-active recruiter is always a benefit to all involved.
Thanks for what you do for
the industry. Your service is helpful to all of us involved in it.

Testimonials:
I really enjoyed your book. I have been
thinking about traveling for a while, but never felt I had all the info to
make such a drastic move. This book has given me the courage to go ahead
with my plans.
I read the book in a couple of hours. I
have been thinking seriously about becoming a traveler - out of state. I
already work for an agency and work for a hospital about 72 miles from
home. I like it. I think that me and my husband and son who will be 2 at
the time of travel towards the end of the year will be going. Lots of good
sound information re the traveling career - good and bad.
I bought the book a few months ago. I
have been trying to get myself to travel since last January. (My husband
lost his job of 23 years last August, Panic!) Having trouble making myself
leave my children to do this. BUT, this book greatly helped me organize
myself and answer questions I had about traveling.
I just wanted to thank you so much for
this book and your tips!
I purchased the book, "Hitting the Road:
A guide to travel nursing" by Shalon Kearney and it is a wonderful
resource for any healthcare professional who is considering travel
nursing. I highly encourage anyone who is considering a traveling career
to purchase their own copy!
