Cleveland is in the state of Ohio right next to
Lake Erie. You won't be short of activities if you decide to visit. There
are all kinds of events, festivals and attractions.
With such a close proximity to Lake Erie, Cleveland can't avoid being a hub
for water sports and other activities. On warm summer days, Lake Erie offers
a wide variety of sports: sailing, fishing, and water skiing.
In addition to the fun outdoors, there are lots of museums to capture the
attention indoors, museums dedicated to art, history, culture, even the Rock
and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. Cleveland also boasts an interesting
downtown area, with trendy boutiques, cafes, and exciting nightlife spots.
For the romantics, a cruise along the shoreline during warm weather is
lovely experience.
If the whole family is along then consider a day trip to Aurora and visit
the Six Flags Worlds of Adventure Amusement Park. There you will find a
water park, a marine park, and the always adventurous fun park. Cleveland
also has wonderful theater productions. Stop by Playhouse Square and you'll
see four of their most gorgeous theaters. Each one offers a number of
productions every year. A must see is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and
Museum. You will learn more than you imagined possible about North American
rock legends.
While you are in Cleveland you'll want to see at least one or two of the
museums and art galleries that can be found throughout the city. Check out
the Cleveland Natural History Museum or the Cleveland Museum of Art for a
quiet afternoon away from the more hectic sightseeing. The Cleveland Museum
of Art opened in 1913 and has some excellent permanent pieces by artists
such as Monet, Degas, Renoir, and Van Gogh. If your children are visiting
Cleveland with you, you'll want to stop at the Great Lake Science Center
where you can take part in the many hands-on exhibits that will keep you and
your family busy for many hours. For a more quiet way to spend a sunny
afternoon make sure that you stop at the Cleveland Botanical Gardens where
you can wander around among the many flowers and plants.
The Cleveland Metro Park Zoo is one of the last must-sees that you'll have
to make time for before leaving the city. This zoo is the seventh oldest zoo
in the United States and is home to a multitude of animals in their natural
settings. You can visit the many specialized exhibits, which includes the
Rainforest exhibit and the Australian Adventure exhibit. No matter
what time of the year that you visit Cleveland you'll find that there is
plenty to keep you busy. |
