Discover Nine Simple Tactics for Healthier Living
Deep in the secret
chamber, Count Rugen has invited Prince Humperdinck to watch
Westley being tortured. Prince Humperdinck explains "Tyrone, you
know how much I love watching you work. But I've got my
country's 500th anniversary to plan, my wedding to arrange, my
wife to murder, and Guilder to frame for it. I'm swamped." To
which Count Rugen replies, "Get some rest. If you haven't got
your
health, you haven't got anything." We all laugh, because we see
the truth in the joke. Truly, all the money in the world won't
mean a thing if you're too sick to enjoy it.
But to maintain your health is not a tough job. It doesn't
require heavy workouts in a gym or strict diet control. Your
overall state of health can improve if you try a few simple
things. You'll feel the change within yourself if you improve
your health even a little. And the best part is that you'll also
look better. Here, by staying healthy doesn't just mean that you
avoid having a fever or cold. Rather, the state of body and mind
is envisaged, where your body weight, blood sugar, cholesterol
levels etc. are kept under control. To top it all, a
healthy body is all the fitter to fight against disease with its
naturally acquired immunity.
If you want to do the minimum to be more healthy in your life,
you have to do just two steps. The first step is eating a little
better. Fortunately, this is the easiest part. Add a serving of
fruit or vegetables a day every week until you are up to five
servings a day. That might sound daunting, but it's not. Start
with putting an apple in your lunch. The next week, add some
carrots to the apple. On the following week, try adding a
vegetable to your dinner every night in addition to the apple
and the carrots. Before you know it, you're to the recommended
five servings a day. The vitamins in fruits and vegetables are
more accessible to your body than those found in multivitamin
tablets. Speaking of multivitamin tablets, research has shown
that most of the vitamins contained in them pass right through
your system and out into the septic without ever being used.
Now comes the second step to a healthier you - Exercise. No, it
does not mean picking those heavy weights as they show on the
T.V. Rather just grab every opportunity to walk. Your body will
love it. Take stairs instead of elevator. Walking from
parking lot to your door is again a good opportunity. Make
it even better by parking your car at the end of the parking
lot. All this should become a part of your daily routine.
Window-shopping during lunch breaks is another great idea. Be a
just little bit willing to improve your health, and you will
surely come up with more exercise ideas to add up more miles in
small increments.
Remaining healthy is not a tough job. It only requires some
slight changes in your daily routine. And the changes in a
"healthier you" do not go unnoticed. With a healthy body, you
get a healthy mind and a happy soul. And all this, with a very
small effort.
