Several different cultures throughout history have used herbs. Herbal
medicine is the most ancient type of healthcare in existence. In ancient
times, plants were a part of every aspect of survival. They were used for
shelter, clothing, food, and medicine. Primitive man saw the plants around
him being consumed by wild animals. He observed the animals and also
consumed plants by trial and error to find the ones that they could use for
medicinal purposes. Some prescription drugs are synthesized to mimic plant
compounds, and these days, 25 percent of all prescription herbs in the US
have one active ingredient that is derived from plant material.
In some Countries, their doctors are only paid when the patient is healthy.
If the patient gets sick, the doctor is not paid until they are once again
healthy. We all know that this is not the case in America; even so, the
American medical community has embraced the medicinal value of herbs. Immune
system boosting herbs are of particular interest. There are several herbs
that are good for immune system boosting. A few popular herbs are listed
below.
The Soviets labeled garlic the Russian Penicillin at one point. This is
because it is such an effective immune system boosting substance. It is a
popular herb and it is available in many forms, strengths, and combinations.
It comes in regular garlic form; 900 Mg garlic form, kyolic garlic, kyolic
garlic with antioxidants, garlic with EDTA, and garlic with parsley. Most of
the garlic supplements are odorless. The Ancient Egyptians worshiped garlic,
and though we do not worship it these days, it is still held in high regard
by the medical community. Its disease fighting benefits, as well as its
ability to boost the immune system are two components of garlic that have
made many view it as a wonder drug among botanicals.
Goldenseal and echinacea are two herbs that are very popular in America and
world wide. When taken together, they assist one another in their jobs.
Echinacea boosts the immune system while goldenseal is a natural antibiotic
and an anti-inflammatory. Goldenseal also helps with bowel problems and
ulcers. Echinacea was first used by Native Americans. Amazingly, they used
the herb on snake bites. It was also used for skin problems and worked quite
well for both. Echinacea is still very good for helping to lessen and clear
up skin problems. It helps psoriasis and eczema. It is of course very
effective for building and maintaining a strong immune system as well.
In recent years, the distribution of herbs has risen. The most ancient
medicine known to man is sort of making a come back, though herbs have been
used continuously in some
parts of the world. |
