Allergy suffers world-wide welcome the promise of relief from their
suffering. There is a huge variety of allergies and the affects of these
allergies differ remarkably. Some people are allergic to dust mites,
grasses, pollens, and pet dander. For some, allergies are a minor
irritation; others suffer with severe allergic reactions, sometimes
life-threatening. For instance, a common allergy that is quite serious is an
allergy to peanuts. Some individuals will not only react when eating peanuts
but even if they so much as smell peanuts. Of course, if you have severe
allergies, you should wear or carry some kind of medical alert, and inform
those around you of the possibility of a reaction.
Allergies to dust mites is very common, and sometimes easy to reduce if not
eliminate. By reducing the amount of allergen in your home, you can minimize
the affect of the allergies and get some amount of allergy relief. Carpet is
one of the chief breeding grounds for dust mites, by removing the carpeting
from your home; you can eliminate some of the source of mites. You need to
continually have your home dusted, swept and vacuumed and your allergies
could interfere with this. Ask someone else to be in charge of the dusting,
vacuuming and sweeping. Dusting with a wet cloth is much more effective than
dusting with a dry cloth - you will limit the amount of dust mites that can
become airborne when dusting with a wet cloth. An air filter or purifier is
also a good solution. The filter will remove some of the allergens from the
air: dust, mold and even pet dander.
In the late spring many people experience hay fever, which is an allergic
reaction to pollen in the air. There are steps you can take to help in this
situation as well. Stay indoors as much as you can and don't let fresh air
into your house. Again an air filter or purifier can help you.
If you are allergic to various foods the obvious answer is to avoid those
particular foods. However this is not always so easy. Take for example a
peanut allergy. People who are severely allergic to peanuts are unable to
eat most chocolate bars even if they are not made with peanuts. If two
different chocolate bars are made in the same factory, one with peanuts and
one without, the person with the peanut allergy cannot eat either chocolate
bar. If foods have even possibly come into contact with peanuts (or any
nuts) a person with a peanut allergy must avoid these foods carefully.
Eating meals out in restaurants can presents a special challenge to
individuals suffering from food allergies. If you suffer from food
allergies, always alert the wait staff to your allergy so then can tell you
and the kitchen staff of any potential exposure. Some people with food
allergies prefer to not take any chances, and eat all their meals at home.
Some people are not aware of how dangerous exposure to food allergies can
be, and sometimes it's best not to take chances.
Other than making changes to your lifestyle to avoid the factors that can
trigger an allergic reaction, there are many different types of medications
that you can take. Be sure to discuss any concerns with your doctor about
taking anti-histamines or any prescription drugs that they can recommend.
Allergy relief is possible, just take these simple steps to try and remove
as much of the allergens from your life as possible.
